Mary Spiegel, Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions

Mary SpiegelMary is responsible for the overall management and operation of the Undergraduate Admissions Office, which includes the administration of all aspects for new student recruitment. This position also provides the direction of activities to ensure immediate and accurate processing of applications and other required documents, and admission notification to prospective students. Mary has a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from the University of Georgia and has been a member of the Crimson Tide family since 1979.

Rick Funk, Senior Associate Director for Recruitment

Rick FunkAfter spending more than seven years in the Division of Student Affairs working with the Greek system, SGA, leadership, parent programming and the On-Call Dean program, Rick has worked in Undergraduate Admissions since July 2003. As Associate Director for Recruitment, Rick coordinates all recruiting efforts in Alabama as well as out-of-state regional recruiters. He is a strong advocate for student involvement in and out of the classroom and has been involved in a number of professional associations, serving as president of the Association of Fraternity Advisors in 1993. Rick is particularly interested in the retention of new students, and he teaches BCE 101, an ongoing orientation class for entering students.

Bradley Barnes, Associate Director for Operations

Bradley BarnesBradley Barnes is Associate Director for Operations in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Scholarships. Responsible for the initial review of applicants in various categories, he directs operations in a supportive role to strategically manage student enrollments. Barnes received his Ph.D. in higher education from the University of Alabama in May of 2007. He is an active participant in state and regional associations for college registrars and admissions officers, and is past chair and co-chair of the ALACRAO admissions planning committee.

Carolyn Rogers, Director of Scholarships

Carolyn RogersCarolyn is responsible for the overall management of scholarships at UA. Her responsibilities include coordinating the scholarship application process, coordinating scholarship policies, recruiting top scholars, and disseminating scholarship information to high school and junior college counselors and prospective students and parents. Carolyn has been part of the Crimson Tide family since 1988 and has been involved with scholarship administration since 1991. She is a graduate of the University of South Alabama in Marketing and Business Management.

Robert Hayes, Associate Director of Orientation and Special Programs

Robert HayesRobert is the Assistant Director of Orientation and Special Programs. He joined the Admissions Team in December 2006. Robert is responsible for the planning, preparation, and execution of the Bama Bound New Student Orientation Program and management of the Avanti student orientation team. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Science in Counseling and Student Personnel from Jacksonville State University. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in Social and Cultural Foundations of Education at The University of Alabama.

Gregg Prigerson, Assistant Director for Regional Recruitment

Gregg PrigersonOriginally from New York City, Gregg headed south and earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Clemson University. Gregg has been an admissions professional for almost 12 years and comes to the University having served at both public and private universities. An avid tennis player, Gregg enjoys staying active; running, and going on long walks with his golden retriever. He oversees a team of regional recruiting professionals positioned from South Florida to Chicago, and from Charleston, SC, to Dallas, Texas.

Bryan Oliver, Assistant Director of Admissions for Alumni and Volunteer Recruitment

Bryan OliverBryan's primary responsibility is to foster relationships between University of Alabama alumni and volunteers and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Scholarships. Bryan's goal is to enable interested alumni and volunteers to help recruit the best and the brightest students to UA. He works closely with the Office of Alumni Affairs and the President's Cabinet for joint recruiting efforts. Bryan received a Bachelor's in Finance and a Master's in Higher Education Administration from the University, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration.

Edwina Crawford, Assistant Director for Undergraduate International Admissions and Recruitment

Edwina CrawfordEdwina is a graduate of The University of Alabama and has worked in the area of international admissions for many years. She is responsible for all facets of the international admission process and she works very closely with the Capstone International Program Center, the English Language Institute and the Academic and Athletic Divisions to serve the prospective and local international community. Ms. Crawford believes that working with international admissions offers variety, challenges, and enjoyment that cannot be found in any other area. Knowing that at any moment a phone call, email, letter or person from any country in the world can enter her office ensures that her work is never boring and always exciting.

Danny Davidson, Coordinator of Orientation and Special Programs

Danny DavidsonDanny graduated from The University of Alabama in December of 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. A Tuscaloosa native, Danny has been a part of this community for 30 years. As Coordinator of Orientation and Special programs, Danny is responsible for planning and coordinating campus efforts related to recruitment events on campus. Through University Days, game day events, and other special programs, Danny hopes to provide a personal experience for each student and parent visiting UA.

Landon Waid, Coordinator of UA/Shelton State Bridge Program

Landon WaidLandon joined the UA Admissions team in June 2008. He is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the UA/Shelton State Bridge Program. Landon particularly enjoys teaching NEW 222, an academic potential and compass course for Bridge students. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Montevallo and his Master's degree from the University of West Alabama. Landon is an active member in state and regional professional organizations and enjoys playing golf in his spare time.
