Students interested in admission to The University of Alabama should contact:
International Undergraduate Admissions

The initial inquiry should provide information about your educational background and degree interests. Application forms are sent by airmail to all qualified applicants. The catalog that explains each degree program is not mailed on an individual basis, but it is available online.
The admission process includes the evaluation of documents, exchange of correspondence, and approval of financial and immigration arrangements. This requires time, and applicants are advised to meet all deadlines stated in the application packet.
The University of Alabama requires that all freshman international students perform above the average; they must have completed their secondary school cycle or must have qualified by examination for admission to a university in their home country. All academic documents submitted to the International Undergraduate Admissions Office for review must be certified, translated copies.
Students wishing to transfer to the University from other accredited institutions should have official, translated transcripts and a detailed syllabus sent to The University of Alabama from that institution so that evaluations of transfer credit may be completed. Such evaluations are made by the registrar of the college the student plans to enter, after the student has been officially admitted.
The University of Alabama reserves the right to refuse admission or re-enrollment or to place conditions on admission or re-enrollment of applicants and former students who it determines represent a safety risk to University students, employees, and University property. Applicants have the right to appeal any such decision to the Undergraduate Admissions Advisory Committee within 7 business days of the date the notice was received.
Withholding information or giving false information may make you ineligible for admission to, or continuation at, the University. Therefore, by submitting this information, you certify that it is true, correct, and complete. Also, by submitting this application, you give permission for the University to obtain additional information from others pertinent to your record prior to attending the University.
Non-native speakers of English are encouraged, but not required, to submit to the University the results of a language proficiency test such as the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). Students may apply as ELI Conditional freshmen or transfer applicants and attend the English Language Institute prior to beginning academic study for a degree program. Proof of language proficiency may be submitted by earning a score of 71 on the IBT (internet based TOEFL), a 6.0 on the IELTS or a 54 on the PTE. Students who enroll in the ELI may also meet the language requirement by satisfactorily completing that program.
The TOEFL bulletin of information and TOEFL registration forms are normally available at United States embassies and consulates, United States Information Agency (USIA) offices, and foundations and binational centers abroad. Arrangements to take the TOEFL should be made by contacting the following:

All new international students are given an additional English placement test at the University prior to enrollment. Students whose scores fall below the required level may be required to enroll in and pass specific non-credit English courses. Students transferring from a regionally accredited U.S. institution who are eligible to receive transfer credit for English Composition courses are not required to take the English proficiency placement examination.
Students lacking English proficiency may undertake intensive language study in the University of Alabama English Language Institute (ELI). For more information about the English Language Institute, contact them at the following address:

The United States Department of State requires all prospective international students who wish to apply for an F or J visa to demonstrate evidence of ability to pay for tuition and living expenses.
The University of Alabama does not offer specific financial aid to international undergraduate students. Admission will not be granted until the University has approved financial documentation. The application package includes detailed instructions on meeting financial admission requirements.
